How to Get Better Video Call Quality on Mobile Data
Nothing is more annoying than a video call that freezes. Most problems come from the network, not from the app. Here is what helps.
Check your signal first
Look at your signal bars. One or two bars means the call will struggle. Move near a window or go outside, or step away from thick walls. Even a few steps can change the quality a lot.
Switch between Wi-Fi and data
If Wi-Fi is slow or far from the router, turn it off and try mobile data. If your data is weak, try Wi-Fi. Pick whichever is stronger for that moment.
Close apps that use the internet
Downloads, video streaming and cloud backups all fight your call for speed. Pause them while you talk. Closing apps you are not using also frees memory so your phone does not slow down.
Use voice when video will not work
Voice needs far less data than video. If the picture keeps freezing, switch off your camera and keep talking. You can turn video back on when the network improves.
Keep the phone cool and charged
A hot phone slows itself down and a very low battery can reduce performance. Take off a thick case during a long call and plug in if you can.
Update the app and your phone
Updates often include fixes for calls and sound. Keep both your browser or app and your phone system up to date.
Allow the permissions
Make sure the app can use your microphone and camera. Also allow notifications so you hear incoming calls when the app is closed.
